Bell-Jeff knocked out of state playoffs
As many times as the Bellarmine-Jefferson High girls’ basketball team got knocked back by Harvard-Westlake, the Guards found a way to keep coming back.
Bell-Jeff had a great deal at stake, considering it was battling to stay alive in the Southern California regional quarterfinals of the Division IV state playoffs.
After being down by double digits, the Guards fought their way back to tie the score in the final moments Thursday. However, the No.1-seeded Wolverines sank two crucial free throws with 5.3 seconds remaining to ice a 61-59 win at Harvard-Westlake.
