Rain postpones more sports games

Steady rain and reports of lightning caused a dozen local sporting events to be postponed Tuesday, including the Pacific League girls' water polo tournament. It's been a common occurrence of late, forcing athletic directors and coaches to find available makeup dates before the playoffs begin next week. The Pacific League water polo tournament was scheduled to begin Tuesday at Burbank High with Glendale taking on Arcadia in a consolation match, followed by Pasadena against Burbank in a prelim match and Crescenta Valley against Burroughs in a prelim match. Tuesday's matches will be played Wednesday, Crescenta Valley girls' Athletic Director Peter Kim said. Two boys' soccer matches were postponed, including Burbank at Crescenta Valley and Chadwick at Flintridge Prep. The girls' soccer matches involving Crescenta Valley at Burbank, Muir at Hoover, Glendale at Arcadia and Flintridge Prep at Westridge were called off. Three Glendale Community College events were also postponed, including the men's tennis match at Cypress College, as well as women's tennis and baseball games at Santa Barbara City College.
