[/caption]Crescenta Valley High's girls' cross-country team picked up its seventh straight Pacific League title on Thursday at Griffith Park and did so in dramatic fashion, edging by archrival Arcadia, 40-42, without the services of Claudia Pham, who's been the No. 1 or No. 2 runner all year for the Falcons.
Impressive as the feat was for Coach Mark Evans and his squad, there was further reason for Evans and his wife Linda, the Crescenta Valley principal, to rejoice. Their sons, Rob and Chris, are coaches at Golden Valley in Canyon Country. Also on Thursday, Golden Valley won the Foothill League finals boys' race, led by individual winner Seth Totten. It was the first time Golden Valley has ever won a league meet. For the season, they finished second, though, after a third-place mark in the previous meet.
Crescenta Valley's girls are ranked eighth in Division I, while Golden Valley's boys are ranked fourth in Division III, and, once more, the teams are looking forward to successful postseasons.
