Sandbags that are filled will be left at the Dunsmore Park lower parking lot, 4700 Dunsmore Ave., for residents to pick up as needed. Shovels, gloves, water and a pizza lunch will be provided to volunteers. The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is part of the Foothill Community Clean Up Day and Glendale's "Make a Difference Day" project. Authorities have urged residents living near fire scarred hillsides to build defenses around their homes against possible mudlfows and heavy rain-off ahead of winter storms. Sunny skies and mild temperatures are forecast through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
