For the second time in as many seasons, pitcher Marco Estrada, a former Glendale Community College player, has been called up to the Washington Nationals.
The 26-year-old Estrada, who had played the duration of the season with the Syracuse Chiefs - the Nats' triple-A club, not the hockey team from "Slapshot" - was called up on Tuesday after the Chiefs' season ended. Major League Baseball rosters expand to 40 in September.
The former Vaquero has been slated to become the team's No. 5 starter and is scheduled to make his debut Saturday against the Florida Marlins.
